Course Curriculum
Module 1: Nurse’s Responsibilities
In this module, students will learn vocabulary related to the main responsibilities of a nurse, such as giving medicine, checking vital signs, and helping patients. The grammar focus will be on using the simple present tense in the third person singular to describe daily nursing duties.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario relacionado con las principales responsabilidades de una enfermera, como administrar medicamentos, revisar signos vitales y ayudar a los pacientes. El enfoque gramatical será el uso del presente simple en tercera persona para describir las tareas diarias de enfermería.
Module 2: Describing pain and conditions
In this module, students will learn to describe different types of pain and medical conditions. Grammar focus: comparatives and superlatives (This pain is worse than yesterday. This is the worst headache I’ve ever had).
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán a describir diferentes tipos de dolor y condiciones médicas. Gramática: comparativos y superlativos (Este dolor es peor que ayer. Este es el peor dolor de cabeza que he tenido).
Module 3: Hospital Staff and Roles
In this module, students will learn vocabulary about different hospital staff and their roles, such as doctors, nurses, surgeons, and receptionists. The grammar focus will be on using can and can’t to talk about abilities and responsibilities in the hospital.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario sobre diferentes miembros del personal hospitalario y sus funciones, como médicos, enfermeras, cirujanos y recepcionistas. El enfoque gramatical será el uso de can y can’t para hablar de habilidades y responsabilidades en el hospital.
Module 4: Patient Admission
In this module, students will learn vocabulary related to patient admission in hospitals, such as filling in forms, asking personal information, and recording medical history. The grammar focus will be on using the Past Simple to describe past events and patient experiences.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario relacionado con la admisión de pacientes en hospitales, como llenar formularios, preguntar información personal y registrar antecedentes médicos. El enfoque gramatical será el uso del pasado simple para describir eventos pasados y experiencias de los pacientes.
Module 5: Medical History
In this module, you will learn to identify and describe common symptoms in English. You will practice using simple present with “have”aIn this module, students will learn vocabulary related to a patient’s medical history, such as illnesses, allergies, past treatments, and family health. The grammar focus will be on using the Present Perfect to talk about life experiences and medical history.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario relacionado con los antecedentes médicos de un paciente, como enfermedades, alergias, tratamientos previos y salud familiar. El enfoque gramatical será el uso del presente perfecto para hablar sobre experiencias de vida y antecedentes médicos.
(e.g., I have a fever) and Wh-questions (e.g., What hurts?). These skills are essential for asking and understanding patient concerns clearly.
En este módulo aprenderás a identificar y describir síntomas comunes en inglés. Practicarás el uso del presente simple con “have” (ej. I have a fever) y las preguntas Wh- (ej. What hurts?). Estas habilidades son esenciales para preguntar y entender las preocupaciones de los pacientes con claridad.
Module 6: Communicating with Patients
In this module, students will learn vocabulary and useful phrases to communicate with patients. They will practice greetings, asking about symptoms, giving simple instructions, and showing care. The grammar focus will be on forming Yes/No and Wh- questions in the present simple, past simple, can, and present perfect.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán vocabulario y frases útiles para comunicarse con los pacientes. Practicarán saludos, preguntar sobre síntomas, dar instrucciones simples y mostrar cuidado. El enfoque gramatical será la formación de preguntas de Sí/No y Wh- en presente simple, pasado simple, can y presente perfecto.
Module 7: Medical Equipment
In this module, students learn the names of common medical equipment. Grammar focus: demonstratives (this/that/these/those), countable and uncountable nouns.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenden los nombres del equipo médico común. Gramática: demostrativos (este/ese/estos/esos), sustantivos contables e incontables.
Module 8: Basic Instructions to Patients.
In this module, students learn how to give basic instructions to patients in English. Grammar Focus: Imperatives and Use of ‘Can’ or ‘Can’t’.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenden como dar instrucciones básicas en Inglés a pacientes. Gramática: Los imperativos y el uso del ‘Poder’ y ‘No poder’.
Module 9: Food and nutrition
In this module, students learn to talk about food, nutrition, and patients’ preferences in a hospital. Grammar focus: like/love/hate + noun/verb-ing, some/any, Do you want…?
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenden a hablar sobre alimentos, nutrición y preferencias de los pacientes en un hospital. Gramática: like/love/hate + sustantivo/verbo-ing, some/any, Do you want…?
Module 10: Daily Routines in Nursing
In this module, students learn to describe daily nursing routines, talk about time, and explain activities step by step. Grammar focus: Simple Present for routines, frequency adverbs, telling the time.
En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenden a describir rutinas diarias de enfermería, hablar sobre el tiempo y explicar actividades paso a paso. Gramática: presente simple para rutinas, adverbios de frecuencia, decir la hora.
