Modulo 10: Hygiene and Mobility
In this module, students will learn essential vocabulary and expressions related to patient hygiene and mobility in the hospital. They will also practice using the present continuous tense to describe actions happening now, such as The patient is walking with crutches or The nurse is helping the patient take a shower.

What is and what is the use:
Que es y como se usa
El Present Continuous (también llamado Present Progressive) se usa para:
- Acciones que ocurren en este momento:
- The nurse is washing her hands now.
- The patient is walking in the corridor.
- Acciones temporales (no necesariamente en este segundo, pero alrededor del presente):
- She is working the night shift this week.
- They are staying in the hospital for two days.
- Planes futuros ya organizados:
- I am meeting the doctor tomorrow morning.
- The nurse is starting her shift at 7 am.
Estructura básica:
Subject + verb to be (am/is/are) + verb-ing + complement
- Affirmative:
- I am helping the patient.
- She is taking a shower.
- They are cleaning the room.
- Negative:
- I am not resting.
- He is not walking with crutches.
- We are not using the wheelchair.
- Interrogative:
- Am I speaking clearly?
- Is she brushing her teeth?
- Are they waiting for the doctor?
Reglas de ortografía para el –ing
- Verb normal → add -ing
- wash → washing
- clean → cleaning
- Verb ending in -e → drop -e + ing
- move → moving
- make → making
- Verb short vowel + consonant → double consonant + ing
- sit → sitting
- run → running
- Verb ending in -ie → change to -ying
- lie → lying
- die → dying
Diferencia con Present Simple
- Present Simple = hábitos, rutinas, verdades generales.
- The nurse works in the hospital. (rutina)
- Present Continuous = acción en progreso o temporal.
- The nurse is working in the hospital now. (en este momento)
Errores comunes
❌ He washing his hands. → ✅ He is washing his hands.
❌ She is wash the patient. → ✅ She is washing the patient.
❌ Are you work now? → ✅ Are you working now?
❌ I am study medicine. → ✅ I am studying medicine.
